The inaugural VietCALL International Convention was held on 18 October 2025 at the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH). The event marked a significant milestone for Vietnam’s Computer-Assisted Language Learning community, bringing together educators, researchers, and practitioners engaged with the intersection of technology and language education.
Key Highlights
Academic Exchange: Participants engaged in a programme of plenary sessions, workshops, and paper presentations, sharing classroom innovations and discussing emerging research directions in CALL.
International Perspectives: The convention drew contributions from Vietnamese and international scholars alike. Keynote speakers from Switzerland, Canada, China, the United States, and Singapore offered substantive insights into the integration of artificial intelligence in language teaching, learning, and research.
Scholarly Rigour and Community: Sessions reflected the collaborative ethos of the CALL community. The breadth and depth of engagement demonstrated the growing strength of Vietnam’s CALL research community and its active engagement with the challenges and opportunities of technology-enhanced language education.
Institutional Partnership: The success of VietCALL 2025 was made possible through the efforts of the organising committee, institutional partners, and sponsors — in particular, the strong commitment of the host institution, the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH). The event exemplifies the increasing importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing language education in Vietnam.
